Greenwood Mills Announces that James C. Self, III it's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office has been named the company's President at its recent board meeting. Self fills the position left vacant with the departure of Larry Englert who came to the company in 2001 with the turnaround management firm Anderson, Bauman, Tourtellot, Vos and Company. "We appreciate the work Larry did during his three year commitment in helping us turn the company around and I am looking forward to continuing and building upon our recent success," Self said. Self becomes the first member of the Self family to lead the privately held company since 1997.
Self joined Greenwood Mills in 1991 and has held several management positions during his career both in the United States and abroad with responsibilities for purchasing , production planning, sales and manufacturing. He is a graduate of Clemson University and holds an MBA from the University of South Carolina.
Self is married to the former Angela Mackley of Charleston and they have two sons, J.C. Self, IV and Mackley G. Self. The family resides in Greenwood and attends First Baptist Church.
The company also announced that Gary W. Coleman who is President of the company's SingleSource Apparel subsidiary has been named as a director of the parent company. He has been in his current position since joining the company in 1994. Prior to joining the company Coleman held management positions with some of the industries top apparel companies such as Cherokee, Gitano, Big Yank, Crystal Brands, Britannia, Kellwood and Garan.
Coleman is a native of Arkansas and a graduate of Arkansas State. He and his wife Sharon reside in Greenwood; have two adult children and two grandchildren.
Greenwood Mills, which recently celebrated 115 years of business, is a leading maker of fabrics for the United States Military, protective clothing and specialty industrial markets. The company's SingleSource Apparel subsidiary is the premier supplier of full package denim garments to brands such as Levi Strauss, Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister. The company, headquartered in Greenwood, SC, operates two plants in Greenwood, a joint venture plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico and a sales office in Huntington, NY.
